A prize-winning playwright

Henry S (2020) and Ravi W (2021) are studying at St Paul’s School. Henry has written Red Room, a 3-hander play which has won the 2025 Viita Prize for Original Dramatic Composition, and Ravi is acting in it.

Play synopsis: 1950s America. Peak McCarthyism. The national ideology is that it’s better dead than red. As fearmongering, spying, insinuation and retaliation abound, the country appears to have moved from one war to another. Brooks and Carter are two FBI detectives at the heart of it all. They have a routine: bring in a communist, convict him, get coffee. But what if the case is personal? What if there are communists a little too close to home?
