Entry at 4+
Places for Reception are allocated by ballot. Drawn in early March of the year preceding entry, the process means boys’ places are allocated 18 months before they begin school.
Boys can be registered for entry at 4+ at any time from birth. The registration fee is £100 and is non-refundable.

Reception September 2024
Places for entry into Reception in September 2024 were allocated following a ballot held in March 2023. If you wish to join our waiting list please register your son here.
Reception September 2025
Please email admissions@rokeby.org.uk should you be interested in a place for entry into Reception in September 2025.
Reception September 2026
Places for entry into Reception in September 2026 will be allocated following a ballot held at the beginning of March 2025. In order for your son to be included you will need to register him with the school (link at the bottom of this page), pay a non-refundable £100 registration fee and submit an online ballot form by Wednesday 26 February 2025. The ballot form will be emailed to the parents/guardians of all registered boys at the beginning of February 2025. We would request that all families wishing to enter their sons into the ballot have visited the school.
You will be notified of the ballot outcome during the first week of March. If offered a place, you will have two weeks from the date of the offer to return a formal acceptance and pay a deposit of £2,500, which will be held until your son leaves at 13. If no response to the offer has been received after the two-week deadline, we will assume that the place is not required and will offer it to the next boy on the waiting list.
All places offered are subject to a positive nursery reference which we request from the nurseries nearer the entry date and a successful experience at a Discovery Morning held in the autumn term of the year before entry. Please be aware that should we have concerns that Rokeby will not be the right setting for your son we reserve the right to withdraw our offer of a place at this point or at any point prior to entry should the need arise. In this case, all monies will be refunded (excluding the £100 registration fee).
Parents or guardians of a boy who accept, but do not subsequently take up a place, will forfeit the whole deposit paid. If less than a term’s notice is given, a whole term’s fee in lieu of notice will be payable.
Entry at 7+ and 8+
Application for entry into Year 3 and Year 4 in September 2024 has now closed. If you would like your son to be added to our waiting list for potential future assessment, please email admissions@rokeby.org.uk.
The assessment for entry into the school at 7+ (Year 3) in September 2025 will take place on the mornings of Wednesday 13th November and Wednesday 20th November 2024, with boys required to attend on just one of these dates. The assessment will consist of written papers in English (creative writing with some spelling and grammar) and Maths, a computer-based Verbal/Non-Verbal Reasoning paper, a group Music/Drama activity and an informal interview. Please note that we do not publish past papers. An application form will be sent out to all eligible families in our system towards the end of September 2024. The closing date for application is Friday 11th October 2024, or sooner if capacity has been reached earlier, therefore early application is advised.
The assessment for entry into the school at 8+ (Year 4) in September 2025 will take place on Thursday 21st November 2024 and will consist of written papers in English (creative writing with some spelling and grammar) and Maths, a computer-based Verbal/Non-Verbal Reasoning paper, a group Music/Drama activity and an informal interview. Please note that we do not publish past papers. An application form will be sent out to all eligible families in our system towards the end of September 2024. The closing date for application is Monday 4th November 2024.

The administration fee for the 7+ and 8+ entrance assessment is £100 and this fee is non-refundable. Please note that this fee is in addition to the school’s registration fee.
Occasional places
We operate small waiting lists for occasional places at other entry points throughout the school.
Each candidate is assessed in relation to his age, with younger boys being given a more informal assessment.
