This year’s House Basketball competition was a thrilling showcase of skill, teamwork, and house spirit, with Bazalgette ultimately securing a well‑deserved victory in a fiercely contested Final.
Throughout the term, many of the boys had already been proudly representing the club in energetic Friday‑morning, before‑school sessions. This dedication carried directly into the House competition, which saw an impressive turnout of over 50 boys from the senior year groups. The House Sports Captains displayed admirable maturity, fairness, and leadership as they organised their teams to ensure everyone had the chance to take part and enjoy the experience.
The Semi‑Finals took place on 23 January before school in the Main Hall. Moody edged past Olive 10–6 in a tense, low‑scoring encounter where defensive discipline dominated. In the other semi-final, Bazalgette powered to a 20–6 victory over Galsworthy, with Thien‑An sinking crucial lay-ups and Tyler steering his team superbly through clever game management and creative play. All matches were expertly refereed by Mr Rhoden, whose calm control and clear communication helped the games flow brilliantly.
The Finals followed the next week—same time, same place—beginning with the 3rd/4th playoff between Galsworthy and Olive. Olive’s sharp passing and cohesive teamwork proved too strong, earning them a 10–4 win despite a determined Galsworthy performance.
The Championship Final began as a tight contest, with Moody showing real spirit and togetherness. However, Bazalgette capitalised on their opportunities with clinical finishing and composed teamwork, pulling away to secure a 14–6 victory and the House title. The camaraderie and sportsmanship displayed by all the boys throughout the competition were outstanding and a real credit to the school.
Congratulations to everyone who took part, and to Bazalgette on their triumph. A special mention goes to Tyler T, who was awarded MVP (Most Valuable Player) for his excellent performance in the Final.
