Last week in Year 2, we transformed our English lesson into a thrilling newsroom experience! Our young reporters took on the challenge of creating and filming a TV news report, bringing history (and a little imagination) to life. The scene? A dramatic battle between a zebra and a gladiator at the Colosseum! The boys immersed themselves in the world of Ancient Rome, spending time thinking carefully about what they wanted to say in their role. The boys were either a newsreader, a journalist or the gladiator called Victorius. Once the scripts were ready, it was time to film! The use of a green screen really brought the newsroom to life.
This activity wasn’t just great fun – it helped the boys develop their speaking and listening skills through presenting their lines clearly and confidently, their writing skills by structuring a news report with key details and teamwork skills as they collaborated and worked as part of a group.
We were so impressed with their creativity and enthusiasm.
