Year 8 visited Cornwall as part of our Valedictory Programme, enjoying an action-packed trip filled with adventure, teamwork and plenty of time by the sea.

The boys thoroughly enjoyed their time on the beach, including an exciting surfing session. Many had never surfed before, making it a challenging but hugely rewarding experience. Once they had mastered some new techniques, their confidence quickly grew, and they were soon riding some impressive waves.

The boys also visited Swanpool, where they took part in coasteering. Dressed in full aquatic and safety gear, they headed to the beach and clambered over the rocks to reach several different jumping locations before taking the plunge.

A range of exciting water activities followed, including sailing, kayaking and paddleboarding. Despite the lack of wind that day, the boys still enjoyed the sailing experience, with everyone getting the opportunity to take part in some ‘capsize practice’. Paddleboarding required an incredible amount of balance and, after spotting around 25 jellyfish within a 50-metre stretch, the boys were certainly keen to stay safely above the water!

It was a fantastic trip, with plenty of memorable experiences, new challenges and opportunities for the boys to build confidence and enjoy the great outdoors.
