Last week, boys from Years 3 to 8 competed in the House Cross Country Championships at Rokeby Sports Ground and the Kingston University fields. The Middle and Upper School race was held on Monday, followed by the Year 3 & 4 event on Tuesday morning. Both days featured pleasant spring weather; however, the ground remained mired in mud, and several hills made the course a genuine challenge for all competitors. All boys contributed to their House effort, supporting one another and recognising each other’s performances. This collective involvement highlighted the importance of encouragement and teamwork.

Across all year groups, the characteristics that cross country naturally develops, resilience, patience, perseverance, and the ability to manage physical challenge, were evident throughout. Just as important was the way the boys supported one another, with plenty of encouragement offered before, during, and after each race. There was strong support from parents around the course, which created a positive atmosphere, and staff were pleased to see the boys representing their Houses well and showing commitment to the competition. Well done to all of our boys for taking part.
