This week, our Sports Scholars in Years 7 & 8 had the opportunity to develop their understanding of their physical capabilities by taking part in a variety of fitness tests led by an external provider, Lion Sport Academy.
Using state-of-the-art technology, the boys were able to measure their peak height velocity (PHV) using their height, weight, age and gender. They then completed a bodyweight strength challenge as well as participating in several bodyweight challenges with each exercise scored out of a total of 5 points.
Once the challenges were completed the students were provided with an average overall score:
- Scores below 2 points receiving Level 1
- Above 2 and below 3.4 results in Level 2
- 3.5 and above at Level 3
Using these scores, Lion Sport create a ‘physical passport’ for each student, which allows for tailored training and development, according to their physical needs.
The boys all demonstrated a first-class attitude in the session, and we hope they will feel more prepared for taking part in their senior school’s scholarship assessments when the time comes.
