This summer Year 6 had the pleasure of venturing the Knebworth Woods, Hertfordshire, for their second instalment of Bushcraft.
The boys built upon the skills acquired from the previous year by working on basic survival skills including fire building and fire lighting; making a bivouac shelter; principles of first aid; tying camp bracelets; knife skills; and building different types of traps from the materials available in the woods.
From beginning to end, it was obvious the boys were really loving it. The food was healthy and plentiful and I think it fair to say that nobody went hungry over the three days. The behaviour and engagement of the boys was exemplary. Some of them even managed to get some sleep!
