The Year 2 classrooms were awash with colour and excitement on Thursday 11th October as the boys took part in Africa Day. Amongst the various African animals were Egyptian Kings, Hunters, Safari Guides and even a few Masai Warriors!
Over the course of the day we welcomed 2 sets of parents who gave talks to the boys. Mrs Levy and Mrs Temple-Jones taught them about growing up in South Africa and the physical features of the country. In the Afternoon Mrs Dhall spoke about life in Kenya and the famous Kenyan exports (not just coffee!).
The boys had great fun listening to and participating in a Drama workshop based on tales from the Ashanti Tribes in Ghana – we were very impressed with the way the boys brought the characters to life! To mark the end of our African topic the boys designed and made African necklaces, including tribal patterns and beads. We all agreed they looked fabulous wearing them home.
