The Under 11 A VIII, having worked their way through the Borough and District stages earlier this term, reached the County semi-finals courtesy of a resounding win over St George’s Weybridge. Due to the appalling weather, it was decided by SSCA to play the semi-final and final on the same afternoon. Rokeby travelled to Cumnor House on Tuesday with hope and excitement. The team excelled in defeating Cumnor House by 59 runs. Rokeby were up against Parkside in the County Final (having defeated them on Monday evening in the Surrey Cup XI-a-side quarterfinal). Rokeby again batted first and posted a commanding score of 287 for 4. Regular wickets meant that Parkside were never able to set a platform to challenge and they finished on 239 for 9. Rokeby won by 48 runs to qualify (as the South East representatives) for the English Schools Cricket Association (ESCA) National Finals at Oakham School, Leicestershire on Wednesday 10th July. Rokeby became the first ever school in Surrey to qualify to the National Finals on THREE occasions. CONGRATULATIONS to all the boys and best wishes for success in the National Finals.
