Danes Hill Cross Country 2019

On the morning of Thursday 28th February, boys from Year 4-8 were selected to compete at the Danes Hill cross country event. The junior boys ran a distance of 1.6km through varied terrain, including fields, hills, and track. The conditions were good for a quick race as it had been largely dry and the weather was mild.

Thomas P finished in 5th place overall, just missing out on a medal, but all the boys ran strongly and put in great team performance. The intermediate boy’s race was 2.4km and consisted of the same terrain as the juniors, but with an additional section of the course. All the boys ran with great intensity and should be proud of their achievements. As this race included Year 5 and 6 runners, some of our boys from year 5 will have gained invaluable experience for next year, holding them in good stead for the future.

Despite the senior boys’ event consisting of Year 7 and 8 runners, Benjamin S finished in an incredible 4th place overall with Rory M hot on his heels in 5th place.

Some great performances from Oliver H and the other senior boys gave them a strong team performance to be proud of. The senior boy’s event was 3km and was a challenging course to navigate.

All the boys should be pleased with their level of performance and all displayed great determination, in what was for some of our boys, their first cross country event for the school.

Congratulations to the following boys who all participated in the competition and gave their best efforts throughout the morning.
