The first afternoon Rokeby Carol Service was held on Friday 7th December at Sacred Heart in Wimbledon.
The service opened with a beautiful solo verse of Once in Royal David’s City sung by Max D which was then followed by the very talented Year 7 singers, Rokeby Choirs, all Rokeby boys then the entire congregation singing together.
The nine readings were indispersed with congregational carols and songs by the choirs and Advanced String Ensemble which told the story of Christmas in a moving way. Particular highlights of the service were all the Rokeby boys in the church singing Away in a Manger and the combined choirs’ powerful rendition of Holy Child at the climax of the service. Finlay P ended the service perfectly with his thoughtful poem about loneliness and sharing at Christmas time.
Thank you to all the boys who sang, read and played for all their hard work in making the beginning of the Christmas period a special time for all at Rokeby.
Thanks to your generosity we raised £1050 for the National Foundation for Youth Music to fund new music projects in disadvantaged areas.
