Bazalgette Memorial

Last Sunday our Head Boy, Ollie B, along with Deputy Head Boy, Felix P and House Captain of Bazalgette, Edward C, attended a ceremony for the unveiling of a commemorative plaque in New Malden. Ian Willoughby Bazalgette, a Rokeby old boy, who we have named one of our houses after, was awarded the Victoria Cross posthumously, for his valiant efforts to save his crew and many civilians when his plane was damaged during a battle.

New Malden is only one of four towns in England to have three Victoria Cross recipients on its memorial, but until Sunday they were the only one not to have a plaque.
