After enjoying an early season coaching session at Charterhouse School with England Batting Coach Mark Ramprakash (scorer of over 100 First Class hundreds) many of the same group of boys were back at Charterhouse to participate in the inaugural Under 10 Prep School 6‘s Tournament on Sunday 21st May.
The competition involved 12 of the strongest cricket schools from the South-East. After Group victories over Arnold House, Ludgrove and Caldicott – all by narrow margins as is often the case with short format cricket, Rokeby was pitted against Feltonfleet in the semi-final. After scoring 35 in our allotted 5 overs the fielding and bowling needed to be at its very best to restrict a strong opposition batting line up. A victory by 5 runs and a date with Shrewsbury House in the Cup Final. Maintaining the same high standards with our out-cricket meant Rokeby were chasing 36 to win. With 14 required and only one wicket remaining prospects could have been better! However, a magnificent last wicket partnership saw Rokeby squeeze home by the narrowest margin.
CONGRATULATIONS to all the players on a fantastic set of performances – worthy winners of the Charterhouse 6‘s Trophy.
To cap a wonderful half term of cricket the full side team went to KCS Wimbledon on Friday 26th May and won a magnificent game of cricket by 18 runs to remain unbeaten in all forms of the game throughout the period. Well done boys! The following boys have played: Dougie B, Ivan B, Dylan C, Oliver H, Philip J, Theo L, Romaan M, Ethan P, Aryan P, William P, Roshaan S and Nicholas S.
