Cross Country success at the Nationals

On Sunday 6th March a team of Under 11s and Under 13s ventured down to the challenging Malvern Hills to participate in the National Prep Schools Cross Country.  Up against over 200 boys and 40 Schools in each age group, the competition was always going to be tough.  A young Under 13 side consisting of just Year 7s found the extended course tough but all acquitted themselves extremely well and can be proud of their achievements.

The Under 11s experienced a mix afternoon with James Verga falling at the start and Finlay Hurst losing a shoe at the first river crossing!  The squad picked themselves up from these initial set backs to finish a fantastic 4th in the team event, just missing out on the medals.  Morrison Cleaver, back to his old self, came in as our front runner in a fantastic 7th place overall.  The other scoring runners were Matthew Burditt (22nd), Daniel Merighi (55th) and Alex Laidlaw (79th).  With four of this squad returning to Malvern next year, hopes are already high for silverware.

Many thanks to all the parents who made the long journey down to Malvern to encourage and support the boys.  It wads much appreciated by all concerned.
